Paisley 2021/Renfrewshire Council, 2017

Paisley's Bid for UK City of Culture 2021 was submitted in the form of 25 Japanese bound documents, printed on cotton stock, each page french folded with internal Paisley Pattern, and each one with a bespoke cover made by an artist, designer or community group.

I managed the bid cover project, briefing and art directing diverse contributors to create work that would meet the required technical specification and reflect the diversity of talent in and around Paisley. 

I also adapted some of the work; in the examples shown art directing photography for a poem by an inmate from HMP Low Moss; applying a fabric spine to hand painted wood; sewing a pleated cover in bespoke tartan.

The covers were recognised by the DCMS judging panel and by the bid Partnership Board as something very special, expressing the talent and passion of Paisley people.
